Ford F-150 Raptor

When the new F-150 Raptor was released last fall, most people had no idea about the cutting edge technology that was hiding inside of it. Some things were easy to see such as the additional power and agility it possessed but there were other areas where people may not have realized how innovative the system was going to be in the market. The Ford Raptor featured the most advanced drive mode in its class. This is the cutting-edge Terrain Management System. The system is enabled by the all-new dual-mode transfer case. The case incorporated the four-wheel-drive system as well as the all-wheel-drive system so that you always have the best multi-terrain experience.

This new technology provides more capability as well as performance on the road and whenever you want to go off the road. The transfer case is designed to manage the distribution of power between the front and rear wheels at all times. This means you can have the all-wheel-drive you want for your everyday driving as well as four-wheel-drive for all of your adventures, no matter where they will take you. It is the best of both worlds so you will never be limited by where you want to go and how the system will react. When you combine this with the new 10-speed transmission and the EcoBoost® engine, it is unstoppable.

Ford Raptor

This is innovative because in other trucks in this class, you will on have one of two transfer cases available. The first is an on-demand type of system that is similar to all-wheel-drive. There is a clutch that is used to transfer torque to the front of the driveline. The other option is an electronic shift-on-the-fly system. This system uses sets of mechanical locks to bring together the front and rear driveshafts. The system found in the Ford Raptor allows drivers to use the 4×4 setting on the road. This is a benefit because people can drive using four-wheel drive without causing any component damage or driveline binding in the process. The other benefit is that while the Terrain Management System is set up where it will default to 4×4 settings but drivers have the ability to manually override these options. This allows them to fine-tune the system for their wants and needs.

The system has been tested using 2,500 miles of competition testing. This was done in the 2016 Best in the Desert series. At the series, it completed the SCORE Baja 1000 at the end of the season. After it was all done, the truck was then driven 400 miles back to the headquarters in Arizona. To say that it is an impressive system is an understatement. If you want to try it out for yourself to experience the difference first hand, stop by our showroom any time. It is an amazing system and it will change the game in this class. Test it out for yourself with a test drive on some local roads today.
